Eight “Last Days” Judgments
This is a study on the “last days” Judgments . . . the eschatological Judgments. Eschatological, es·chat·o·log·i·cal . . . relates to death, judgment, and the final destiny of the soul and of humankind.
There are at least eight of these procedures, including one that happened 2000 years ago, and seven others that are still in the future. These Judgments so often get overlooked when believers study prophecy . . . and that is sad because they are an important part of God’s Plan for the end times. In fact, almost every future, prophetic event is associated, either directly or indirectly, with one or more of these divine judgments.
The Reason for Judgment
Judgment is people being held accountable for their actions. Judgment is an ancient idea that has been carried over into modern law, where a judge hears arguments in a case, examines the evidence, and gives a fair and just verdict. If someone has been wronged, it is made right. The offender is punished. So . . . Judgment is the procedure of dispensing justice. The term “justice” appears about 130 times in the English text of the Bible.
Gen. 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. (KJV)
Keeping “the way of the LORD,” is simply doing “righteousness and justice.” That is how important justice is to our God. It is Who He is! The Holy Word of God connects His Return to Earth with His judgment and justice. So, the Lord Jesus’ Return is . . . to bring judgment and justice . . . that is one of the main reasons Jesus is coming back!
He is Coming Back to stop evil and to set things right in this world! Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (KJV) When He comes back, His will shall be done on Earth . . . as it is in Heaven! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready!
1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (KJV)
Our Saviour and Lord has seen the agonized tears and heard the desperate cries of the oppressed and the heartbroken . . . and He has put Satan and all his evil children (on notice that He is returning to this sin-ravaged planet to hold them accountable for the mess they have made of it. And when Jesus gets here, He will execute swift judgment and vengeance on EVERY form of ungodliness. Enoch, the seventh generation from Adam, shared this vision of God’s coming judgment. Jude 1:14-15 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (KJV) . . . Including the first man Adam, Enoch is the seventh name in the first family line (1 Chron.1:1-3). The Jews considered seven was the perfect number.
Genesis 5:24 tells us that Enoch ‘walked with God’, that is, he lived a holy life, very close to God. Enoch did not die, because God took him straight to Heaven. Although he lived so long ago, Enoch speaks of the Return of the Lord to judge everyone. He specifically tells of the awful fate of wicked people who do not obey God. Jude keeps repeating the word ‘ungodly’ to emphasize how bad they are in God’s sight. "Ungodly" is used 6 times in this little Book. They were not Christians at all. They did not believe that God would judge and punish them. There are multitudes today who believe this too. They are making a very BIG mistake.
These ‘ungodly men’ are false teachers. They may have traveled from place to place. It seems no one noticed when they came among Jude’s readers. False teachers bring WRONG ideas (damnable heresies, 2 Pet.2:1) which were a danger to the faith then and NOW!
These were the errors in their teaching:
#1. They were taking wrong advantage of God’s mercy. They used it as an excuse to behave in any way that they liked. They were like some Christians that Paul described (Rom. 6:1). They said that God loves to forgive. So wicked behavior makes it possible for God to show even more of His grace.
#2. They said that the human body is evil. So, it does not matter how you use it. They denied Jesus and His Words by the wicked way in which they lived.
#3. They denied that Jesus had a real human body. They said that He could not be hungry or need to drink. Nor did He did feel pain.
#4. They said that Jesus was NOT one with God (John 10:30), and that Jesus was NOT God, like so many today, including some in my family.
#5. They claimed to have special knowledge of the way to God, like the Catholic Church. They said they were superior to ordinary Christians, who could not have this same knowledge.
ALL of these heresies are present in today's modern churches. BEWARE!!! Check out ALL pastors and teachers, including me. (Acts 17:11). Make sure what they teach agrees with the Holy Word of God!
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, foretold about these men [apostates] also, saying: Jude 1:14-16 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. 16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. (KJV)
In this study on the “Last Days” Judgments, we shall find that there are at least eight of these trials, including one that happened 2000 years ago, and seven others that are still in the future. It is sad that these judgments often get overlooked when believers study prophecy . . . because they are a vital part of God’s Plan for the last days. The truth is, nearly every future, prophetic event is connected, in some way, with one or more of these last days judgments.
The Need for Divine Judgment is not only Biblical, it is also necessary. In the Holy Word of God, the LORD portrays Himself as the Defender of the weak and powerless . . . and the job He gives to His people is the same.
Psalm 82:3-4 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. (KJV)
These future judgments of the LORD is necessary because it protects His righteous nature and reputation. If God allowed evil to run rampant in the Universe with no final liability or responsibility, He would not be a caring and compassionate God. Future judgment is about accountability. If there is no accountability, then evildoers get away unpunished, without having to answer for their demonic evils. But dear one, God will NOT allow that to happen. He is a good God, a God of justice, and He assures us that the wicked ones shall answer for what they have done . . . and even those who may have thought they got away with something . . . will find that they were wrong. No one can hide anything from God’s all-seeing Eyes!
