What Does GOD Have to Say?
Hatred, Chapter 8

Hate is strong dislike for; ill will for; to loathe; to despise; try to avoid; abhor; aversion; to turn away from; revulsion; repugnance; opposite of love.

Exodus 20:4-5Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
God is a “jealous” God. He does not want us to worship anything or anyone but Him!
WHY does God keep punishing sin in the families that hate Him? Because if a man hates God, and has no fear of Him, chances are good that he will teach his childrento do the same.

Leviticus 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
We should not hate our brothers and sisters in Christ, but, we should rebuke them if we see doing something in direct conflict to God. If we don’t, we are saying “It’s all right.”

Psalm 4:4-6 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.  5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord  6  Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
We should stand in reverence and awe of Almighty God. We must realize He gets NO pleasure from wickedness, and cannot tolerate that which we consider ‘small sins’. To God, sin is sin! In these verses God says He will destroy them that speak lies; and that He hates murder and deception. He wants our love and trust and sacrifices of righteousness (our obedience), and our praise (Heb.13:15-16).

Psalm 69:4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
This is a prophecy about Jesus that is fulfilledin Jn.15:25. They did hate Him withouta reason.

Psalm 109:5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
Returning evil for good, and hate for love went on in the time of King David, and continues today.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

God hates evil, pride, arrogance, corruption, deceit, and a hateful, dirty mouth. We should too. We are allowed to hate the things that God hates.

Proverbs 8:36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
If we love God, we win His approval; but if we hate Him, our soul is in danger of Hellfire.

Proverbs 9:8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
If you try to correct a mocker, he will only bounce back at you with a smart, wise crack
answer; whereas a wise man will accept criticism. Are you a wise man, or a scorner?

Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
Harboring hate in your heart will only cause quarrels; but love on the other hand, overlooks a multitude of insults and offences directed at you.

Proverbs 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
If you hate someone and try to conceal it, you are a liar. Slander is saying something untrue about someone; being a false witness; gossip can be slanderous. God says if you do these things in this verse you are a “fool!” God’s Words . . . not mine.

Proverbs 15:17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
It is much better to eat a bowl of soup with someone you love than a gourmet seven course meal with someone you despise.

Matthew 5:43-44 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Some people think Christians are ‘sissies’. Wrong! The life of a TRUE Christian is not
easy. “Love your enemies”is not what the vast majority of people would do. It’s human nature to hate someone who hates us. If someone does something mean and ugly to you; try doing something NICE for them. Bless them that curse you” If someone curses you, what do you do? If you’re like most, you curse them back, probably more so. We should not do this. Do good to them that hate you” We are to love with love like God. He sends rain on the just and the unjust. He does good to those that hate Him. Pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you  I am here to tell you that this most certainly works. Praying for them not only helps that person, but it helps you. It gives YOU peace and comfort. The lesson that Jesus is trying to get across is ‘Don’t retaliate!’ Let God handle it.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Jesus says we can only have ONE master; be it God . . . or be it money! You will love and worship and be devoted to, one or the other. People in our materialistic society spend all their lives working, connivingand storing up money and what it can buy. I think we are all guilty of this to some extent. But the end result is that we die and leave it behind! Which is your master? God or money??? Jesus says we should store up for ourselves “Treasures in Heaven (Mt.6:19-20). For where ever your treasure is, there will be your heart also!
We all need to think in terms of eternity. Money and possessions are only here for now. Spiritual things (what we do for the cause of Jesus) will last forever! Do consider this.

Romans 12:9Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Dissimulation” is hypocrisy; deception; pretense. Don’t just ‘say’ you love someone. Love them! Show them you care, and are concerned about their welfare. Hate anything that is evil or wicked, and hang onto that which is good and right.

Titus 3:3For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
Before we become Christians we are most often very foolishin regard to spiritual matters, and
so disobedient. We are mis-led by others and become slaves to many wicked desires and evil
pleasures. Our lives are full of jealousy (coveting what others have); we are full of hate and we dream up ways to hurt others when they hurt us. This is NOT the kind of life God wants for His children; and He will not tolerate this kind of conduct from us. He wants us to love . . . not hate!

1 John 2:9He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
Light’ means good and right. Jesus is LIGHT! ‘Darkness’ is sin, evil, and wickedness. Satan is darkness! If we call ourselves Christians, we can’t possibly hate our brothers and sisters in Christ. That is wrong. That means we’re in ‘darkness’ not ‘light’. We’re sinning. This does not mean it is a sin to dislike the habits, attitudes and mannersof some people; but we must not hate them.

1 John 4:20-21If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
John is saying that if you say you love God, and hate your brother or sister in Christ; you are a liar! You have never seen God, and you say you love Him; but you hate your brother or sister whom you have seen. Does that make sense to you? John is saying here that if you hate your brother, you also hate God. We cannot love God if we hate His family who are created in His image.

1 John 3:15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
ANYONE who hates his brother is a “murderer!” Very strong language! WHY is hate so bad? Hate can lead to anger, bitterness, discontent, wrath, malice, vengeance, violence, even murder. ALL of which are bad for you. There is nothing in God’s Word that will lead you astray; there is nothing in God’s Word that will do you harm in any way. Quite the contrary, God’s Word will only make you a better person, and lead you only in the right direction, at all times, if you let it! Hatred is an awful thing that can consume you if you allow it to do so.
Rev. 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Rev. 22:14-15Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Hatred can definitely put you in Hell. Please consider God’s Words!
