God's Promises to the Righteous

WHO Are the Righteous???

Who are the "righteous'? The righteous are described and known by God as to their character: their thoughts, words, and deeds. Foolish and corrupt conversation CANNOT come out of their mouth, NOR blasphemy in any way. The righteous are taught of God, and they speak according to the wisdom that is from above (Jam.3:17), NOT of the world.

Righteousness comes by FAITH in Christ.

Gen.15:6 And he (Abraham) believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. [KJV]

Rom.4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. [KJV]

Rom.4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. [KJV]

Rom.4:8-13 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. [9] Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. [10] How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. [11] And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: [12] And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. [13] For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. [KJV] . . . The Promise (Gen.12:3) was made to Abraham long before the Law. It points to Christ, and it refers to the Promise of eternal life through Christ.

The law shows that every sinner is exposed to God's Divine wrath. Because God intended to give people the promised blessings, He chose that it be by FAITH! God certainly does work in very mysterious ways! (1 Cor.1:18-31). I have found in my many years of serving Him, that the older a person is OR the more education a person has, the harder it is to reach them with the Salvtion Message. A child or retarded person is much more receptive to faith in Christ.

Jews or Gentiles (non-Jews) must attain Heaven the same Way! Justification (Rom.3:22,28; 5:1; Gal.2:16; 3:11; 2 Cor.5:21) and salvation of sinners (John 3:15-18; Eph.2:8-9; 1 Thes.5:9; 2 Tim.1:9; Tit.3:5; 1 John 4:9) is through FAITH in Christ alone (John 14:6; Acts.4:12)!

Abraham believed God and expected for the fulfillment of His Promise, and even though he never saw it fulfilled, he had faith that one day God would do as He had said. His hopes never wavered even when all seemed hopeless. This FAITH made Abraham righteous in God's eyes! This same FAITH can today make us righteous in God's eyes. Abraham believed the God could NOT lie. We too today, must believe that God CANNOT lie, because it is a FACT! It is absolute Truth!

God honors faith; and our faith honors God. Faith is actually glorifying God! Faith is the channel by which we receive the righteousness of God and the redemption which is by Christ.

Righteousness comes by OBEDIENCE to God.

Deut.6:25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us. [KJV]

Romans 10:4-5 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. [5] For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. [KJV] . . . SO, just WHAT are our laws? Are we under the Ten Commandments? In my humble opinion, NO! We are not! When in doubt, ask yourself: "What does Jesus say?"

Matthew 22:36-40 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? [37]  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. [KJV] . . . Jesus' words. Love fulfills the law (Rom.13:10). A righteous person who has the love of God in his heart, delights to obey God. We must #1 Love God first! And #2 Loving our neighbor springs forth off the first command from Jesus.

1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? [KJV]

BUT, do you really SEE what else Jesus is saying here? On these two laws . . . hang ALL the law and the prophets . . . in other words, the whole Old Testament! These TWO laws from Jesus are like the first and last links of a chain, everything in between depends on them! Being righteous starts and ends with heart-felt love to God and man. These TWO commands from Jesus are OUR Commandments!

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. [KJV] Jesus' words . . . Do unto others!

Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. [KJV] . . . Do unto others!

Gal. 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [KJV] . . . Do unto others!

Jam. 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: [KJV] . . . Do unto others! IF we want to be righteous in God's eyes, we must believe God . . . trust AND obey. If we want to be righteous in God's eyes, we must LOVE with the love of God! That is righteousness!

righteous person is the exact opposite of an unbeliever, or as the Bible calls them, wicked!
