"Damnable Heresies"
The Damnable "Word Faith" Teachers
2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (KJV)
Some Word Faith Teachers
John Bevere, Markus Bishop, Morris Cerullo, Kim Clement, Kenneth Copeland, Paul Crouch, Crefto Dollar, Jesse Duplantis, Kenneth Hagin, Marilyn Hickey, Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-Browne, T.D. Jakes, Bishop Eddie Long, Joyce Meyer, Miles Munroe, Steve Munsey, Mike Murdock, Joel Osteen, Rod Parsley, Oral Roberts, R.W. Shambach, Robert Schuller, Karl Strader, Robert Tilton, John Hagee, Charles Capps, John Avanzini, Fred Price, Don Stewart, T. L. Osborne
#1. John Avanzini . . . http://thewordonthewordoffaithinfoblog.com/2011/03/04/prosperity-gospel-tactics-as-seen-in-john-avanzini-as-used-by-most-prosperity-preachers-russell-earl-kelly-phd/ . . . By Russell Earl Kelly, PHD . . . The so-called Prosperity Gospel is really a horrendously unbiblical false gospel which is destroying the good name of Christianity and is replacing it with a message of greed and selfishness. John Avanzini’s Hundredfold Lie is very typical of other prosperity preachers. They all use the same tactics and WoF abuse of God’s Word.
http://thechurchofjesuschrist.us/tag/john-avanzini/ . . . Jesus was rich . . . unbiblical blasphemy!
http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/07/23/john-avanzini-word-faith-wolf-rub-stones-and-get-rich/ . . . John Avanzini, the Word Faith WOLF . . . "Rub stones and get rich."
http://www.thebiblepage.org/avoid/avanzini.shtml . . .John Avanzini, as most Word of Faith teachers do, focuses largely on supposed promises of earthly financial prosperity for those who would follow Christ. One of his most well known teachings is that of the "hundredfold increase" (a similar teaching is also used by Gloria Copeland in her book "God's Will is Prosperity").
#2. John Bevere . . . http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/bevere.html . . . by Sandy Simpson, 11/08/02
Some unbiblical and heretical teachings of John Bevere.
#3. Morris Cerullo . . . http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/morris.htm . . . by Inner-City Christian Discernment Ministry, 1998 Morris continues to spew forth false teaching regarding the "anointing" which has no biblical basis whatsoever. Let me ask you a question. What was the "first" great anointing He released upon the Church? If we want to call the Day of Pentecost, the birth of the Church, the first great anointing, so be it, but what was the second, the third, the fourth. . .and now the "last" great anointing?

#6. Creflo Dollar . . . http://www.letusreason.org/Wf.27.htm . . . by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason, 2000
"Some current teachers seem to think that Moses forsaking the riches of Egypt was not necessary. He could have had the best of both Egypt and God. He didn't have to give up anything for Gods kingdom. The teaching that is promoted is that if we are working for the Lord we should get paid better than we did when in the world. After all, we are serving God."

#7. Jesse Duplantis . . . http://www.letusreason.org/Popteac12.htm . . . by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 8/01
"He is a man with more stories than anyone else has in their holster. Unlike his discipler Copeland there is very little expository teaching from him. Nonetheless, we have another who alters the word to his likin'. Instead, Duplantis uses his personal stories to woo his audience into laughter. And he is funny, but it is not funny what he teaches! Duplantis disdains doctrine." . . . also see: http://web.archive.org/web/20080615210249/http://www.discernment.org/wordfaith/jesse.htm
#8. Kenneth Hagin . . . http://www.bible.ca/tongues-audio-video-documentation.htm . . . at The Interactive Bible, 1998
For an clear picture of one of the main influences of the Third Wave, take a real video and audio visit to RHEMA where Kenneth Hagin and Kenneth Copeland blaspheme God, laugh demonically, roll around on the floor, hiss like snakes, make animal noises, and tell people that the disciples were drunk at Pentecost.
http://web.archive.org/web/20020223145708/http://www.discernment.org/Charismania/hagin-.htm . . . by Rev. Robert S. Liichow, 1998 "Mr. Hagin has long been touted as a prophet by many within the charismatic movement for years. Without a doubt, all people within the Word of Faith Movement look to Mr. Hagin as a genuine prophet of God. The facts seem to indicate otherwise! Here are three examples of Hagin's prophetic ability - all of which failed to come to pass."

Kenneth Hagin Prophecy For October In July Kenneth Hagin issued a prophecy which indicates that the great revival everyone has been waiting for will begin in October after "that which has hindered shall be taken out of the way." Does this mean the removal of the critics, the rapture of the church, the "cleansing" that New Agers have spoken of? You decide."
http://web.archive.org/web/20080610190905/http://www.discernment.org/wordfaith/kenhagin.htm . . . by Rev. Robert Liichow, Discernment Ministry International, 1998
"Kenneth E. Hagin is the acknowledged "father" of the modern Word of Faith Movement and is viewed by charismatic Christians globally as a true prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ. Kenneth Hagin has been active in ministry since the late 1930's and worked around the fringes of the Pentecostal healing revival of the 1940's through late 1950's.
http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/hagandies.html. . . by Sandy Simpson, 9/03
Hagin is responsible for bringing the cult of Word-Faith into mainstream Christianity, while most Christian leaders stood by and let it happen. This is why we are plagued by his followers like Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Rodney Howard-Browne, Creflo Dollar and thousands of others today.
#9. Larry Hutch . . . . http://www.letusreason.org/Pent58.htm . . . by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 2006
Tune and you will hear such nonsense using fear to motivate the people by Larry Huch: “If you’re pregnant you need to call in and break every family curse off your baby before it’s ever born!” Marcus Lamb: “Yes! That’s good!” (Larry Huch and Marcus Lamb, “Daystar Spring Share-A-Thon, March 9, 2005)

Jakes was also a featured speaker for Bill Hybels and Willow Creek Church this past summer as well. Despite his denial of the Trinity, i.e. the very nature of God, there right alongside Hybels, Andy Stanley, and some others, T. D. Jakes spoke at The Global Leadership Summit 2010 last August 5-6.
#11. Bishop Eddie L. Long . . . http://web.archive.org/web/20051220235851/http://www.myfortress.org/bishopeddielong.html . . . by MyFortress.Com, 12/04
"Bishop Eddie Long also uses Word Faith jargon such as: "Everything that you have been speaking is coming...Touch your neighbor and say, 'You got power in your mouth.' Tell them, 'There is power in your words...It is so important that you change your vocabulary. Alot of the stuff I found myself in, I spoke it."
http://letusreason.org/Wf51.htm . . . by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 9/27/10
Bishop Eddie Long is pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church which has accumulated over 25,000 members since he began in 1987. From Georgia. He is televised to 170 countries. Long has been married twice having four children. Long has a Bentley ($350,000) with bodyguards. He wears clothes that display his prosperity theology. Long who once wore a Jewish star necklace around his neck instead of a cross and had a handkerchief sticking out from his suit pocket in the shape of a crown (TBN Sept. 7, 2003) is adorned with expensive tailored suits, a Rolex watch, gold necklaces, and diamond bracelets he steps up to the pulpit to show them how it works. “The Atlanta Journal-Constitution published tax records showing that from 1997 to 2000 Bishop Long had accepted $3 million in salary, housing, a car and other perks from a charity he controlled” (Sex Scandal Threatens a Georgia Pastor’s Empire By James C. McKinley and Robbie Brown: Sept. 25, 2010). In Nov. 2007 Long was named as one of six well - known televangelist ministries to be investigated for possible financial misconduct by Sen. Charles Grassley. Recently Long made the news because four former members of his youth group, his own church members are bringing suit against him accusing Long of sexual relationships that I will not mention (this can be read by news services).

Bishop Eddie Long is being linked to a mortgage scam that is now under investigation by the feds. Matrix Capital promised to lower people's mortgages for $1,500 upfront. Police say thousands of homeowners paid Matrix money, but according to investigators, most of them ended up in bankruptcy and losing their homes.
#12. Joyce Meyer . . . http://www.pfo.org/wan-star.htm . . . by G. Richard Fisher and Paul R. Belli, 1999
"Christians have come to presume that teachers and authors who profess to speak and write out of a calling from the Holy Spirit will present a message that is doctrinally sound and consistent from sermon to sermon and book to book. However, anyone who has watched the Christian Charismatic scene over the past several years knows that such a presumption is dangerous and often will fail to be borne out. Joyce Meyer, a rising star on the Charismatic horizon with a weekly program on cable TV and the Trinity Broadcasting Network and a new book, The Word, The Name, The Blood, is the latest example."
http://www.pfo.org/preacher.htm . . . by Paul R. Belli and G. Richard Fisher, 1999
"Somehow, those who really, “tell it like it is” are looked down upon as overeducated, unanointed, critical, religious attackers. The bottom line is that as a result of not studying to show herself approved unto God, Meyer succumbs to heresies, promotes false teaching and does not tell it like it is — she tells it like it isn’t." Also, check out this earlier expose' from 1996 to see that this lady has been teaching false doctrine for a long time.

Joyce Meyer says God has made her rich. Everything she has came from Him: the $10 million corporate jet, her husband's $107,000 silver-gray Mercedes sedan, her $2 million home and houses worth another $2 million for her four children — all blessings, she says, straight from the hand of God.
http://www.newswithviews.com/West/marsha195.htm . . . by Marsha West, NewsWithViews, May 9, 2010
A Christian friend of mine is reading one of Joyce Meyer’s books. If you haven’t heard of Meyer, she is a popular health and wealth author/radio & TV teacher/conference speaker who believes God is our sugar daddy. The evangelist has been criticized for her “conspicuously prosperous lifestyle.” According to my friend, Joyce’s books are “uplifting.” She didn’t like hearing that some of her favorite author’s teaching is theological heresy. To my friend’s way of thinking, if a book makes you feel good, doctrine isn’t all that important.

Move over Robert Schuller, the Church of Laodicea has a new star on the rise in the world of positive motivational Christianity. It’s Joel Osteen, pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, whose motto is "Discover the Champion in You." He is the son of Pentecostal preacher the late John Osteen. But where his dad lacked in charm and charisma the 39-year-old son makes up for it in the style of a Tony Robbins with the looks of a Richard Gere.

#17. Rod Parsley . . . http://www.cephasministry.com/parsley.html . . . by Joseph Chambers, Paw Creek Ministries,"End Times And Victorious Living" Volume 12, No. 6 This article was taken from the latest issue of "End Times And Victorious Living" Volume 12, No. 6. It details a few of the false teachings of Rod Parsley, and ever-present televangelist on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. We have been watching this man for a long time and, apart from his stated "prosperity gospel" position, he has departed even further from the Scriptures recently into some very blasphemous territory. We urge anyone who watches TBN (we do not endorse watching TBN at all) to beware of this man and his teachings and false anointing.
http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/newpage17.htm . . . by Inner-City Christian Discernment Ministry, 1999 "ICCDM is of the opinion that this testimony, like so many others shared by Charismatic extremist ministries is untrue."
http://letusreason.org/Wf20.htm . . . by Mike Oppenheimer, 1999 "Parsley is a powerful motivational preacher who mixes truth with error. He is one of the most popular Pentecostal TV preachers in America right now. He is able to release the anointing to people. Cuts up prayer clothes to heal by laying hands on them and praying he literally transfers and releases the tangible anointing. The prayer is answered due to the what he calls the corporate anointing. This is more like a transferable energy since the anointing is the Holy Spirit who is God and is being used as a force. He tells us his faith is released toward us (faith is Godward not toward man) He states because he prayed every prayer is answered."

Richard Fisher, Personal Freedom Outreach, The Quarterly Journal, Oct. - Dec. 1999 "Parsley can scream, shout, stomp, prance, obfuscate and mislead but it is all noise and no substance. MONDAY, DECEMBER 4TH 2006 – This is a date that will forever live in Christian infamy! This was the day that Rod Parsley went on global television, via the TBN Praise the Lord program; live at New Beginnings Church in Dallas, TX, with his “Healing Miracle Service”. This was a two hour televised program dedicated to nothing but signs, wonders and miracles. Featured with Parsley were many big names in the “Christian” television industry such as: Benny Hinn, Jesse Duplantis, Paul Morton, Ron Luce, Larry Huch, and The Crabb Family all under one roof, well…sort of. Hinn, Duplantis, Morton and Luce were not really there. They had provided a quick pre-recorded speech on video. Larry Huch, however, was present as well as The Crabb Family, who provided the musical entertainment.

#18. Peter Popoff . . . http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/popoffback.html . . . by Sandy Simpson, 3/17/06
I received a letter from Peter Popoff. I did not sign up for his address list, but apparently he got my name and address from somewhere. This infamous televangelist, in the past, was found to be guilty of wearing an earpiece so that his accomplices in his sound booth could feed him personal information on people in his audience while he was claiming to get personal messages directly from God. This letter proves that, not only is he back as a regular on TV, he is also back to his old tricks.
http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/consumer&id=7984766 . . . at Trinity Foundation, 3/15/11
ABC affiliate KABC in Los Angeles examined televangelist Peter Popoff of Upland, Calif., because of his claims faith could wipe out people's debts. His programs air nationally on BET. The Feb. 28 report says Popoff sends his followers small vials of "miracle spring water" and debt cancellation kits, then asks his viewers to send small donations. In return, Popoff promises -- as a messenger of God -- to heal and unlock the secrets of financial security and wipe out all debt. Trinity Foundation President Ole Anthony was interviewed in the report.
http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Wolves/peter_popoff.htm . . . Peter Popoff is a false prophet!!! Peter Popoff promotes his Miracle Water. Sadly, many people have fallen victim to this blatant scam. Popoff's TV show uses lures of a better job, better health, and more money to sucker people into sending him a donation. It is tragic that greedy men stoop so low as to exploit the name of Jesus, but this is what Peter Popoff, Don Stewart, Mike Murdock, Benny Hinn, Pat Robertson, Robert Tilton, James Robison, and others are doing.
#19. Oral Roberts . . . http://cnview.com/on_line_resources/the_life_and_ministry_of_oral_roberts.htm . . . O Timothy Magazine, Volume 7, Issue 3, 1990 "It is obvious that Roberts is a deceiver and a false prophet. His prophecies have been proven wrong time and time again. Sadly, he has deceived multitudes with his lying words and false promises, and has robbed God's people of hundreds of millions of dollars. And in spite of all the evidence which proves Roberts' hypocrisy, he is still regarded as a great Christian leader in charismatic circles and is still promoted as a man of God."

"When Oral Roberts says that God told him that he was going to take him home if he didn't get 8 million dollars, he lied to the public," noted the late Bible Answer-man Walter Martin. "God never told him that at all. Don't you get the feeling that something's going wrong? It is and it's found for you in scripture. We're told in scripture to reprove, rebuke, and exhort . . . for the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine . . . It's here." This makes Oral Roberts a certified false prophet, false teacher, and lying wolf in sheep’s clothing. And his son Richard Roberts, the current president of Oral Roberts University (ORU), is following in his father’s footsteps.
#20. R.W. Shambach . . . http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/shambach.html . . . by Sandy Simpson, 1999
"The Balaam Network (TBN) has really been raking in the cash lately. With The Omega Code movie in the top ten of money making movies (thanks to discerning Christians everywhere) and their regular Praise-A-Thon, they are rolling in dough. So much so that they can now afford to beam utter heresy, like what you are about to read, to all of China. I have been watching their fund raising antics the last three nights. I never thought they could top John Avanzini's "Jesus and the disciples were rich", "one hundred fold return" and "the widow's mite" (she "wonted" something) ploys, but R.W. Shambach has just hit a new low. This e-mail confirmed what viewers heard Shambach say the other night raising funds for TBN. He has been on solidly for the last three days."
#21. Robert Schuller . . . Though Robert Schuller is not of the Word-Faith camp out of RHEMA of E.W. Kenyon and Kenneth Hagin, his roots from New Thought and Norman Vincent Peale are very much the same. Both ideas have much in common. http://www.rapidnet.com/~jbeard/bdm/exposes/schuller/general.htm . . . by Biblical Discernment Ministries, 1/99
"Schuller's false teaching is an extremely serious matter in light of his wide influence. His is the most popular religion television broadcast in America. His books sell by the millions. He appears with presidents. His "self-esteem Christianity" has been adopted by multitudes. These believe they are Christians and attend churches; but in reality, they worship a false christ and follow a false gospel. Robert Schuller and his mentor, the late Norman Vincent Peale, are two of the key culprits in promoting this error."

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. -- Crystal Cathedral, the megachurch birthplace of the televangelist show "Hour of Power," filed for bankruptcy Monday in Southern California after struggling to emerge from debt that exceeds $43 million. In addition to a $36 million mortgage, the Orange County-based church owes $7.5 million to several hundred vendors for services ranging from advertising to the use of live animals in Easter and Christmas services. The church had been negotiating a repayment plan with vendors, but several filed lawsuits seeking quicker payment, which prompted a coalition formed by creditors to fall apart, church officials said.

http://www.gotquestions.org/Word-Faith.html . . . Question: "Is the Word of Faith movement Biblical?"
Answer: Word of Faith teaching is decidedly unbiblical. It is not a denomination and does not have a formal organization or hierarchy. Instead, it is a movement that is heavily influenced by a number of high-profile pastors and teachers such as Kenneth Hagin, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Paul and Jan Crouch, and Fred Price.
