Universalism is a Damnable Heresy!
2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (KJV)
In their book, If Grace is True: Why God Will Save Every Person, Universalists Philip Gulley and James Mulholland promote the notion that regardless of one’s belief about God, Jesus Christ, or God’s Word, every individual is going to be “saved” from hell. This idea may be outrageous, or it may be comforting, or it may have no bearing whatsoever because you neither believe in hell nor in God. Whatever the case may be, let us discover first why these two “ministers” and “pastors” — wolves in sheep’s clothing — believe such, and second, weigh their arguments against what Scripture explicitly teaches.
Universalism teaches that all people will ultimately be saved no matter what they believe here on Earth. You can deny God, hate Him, blaspheme Him, join a satanist group and murder people and still go to heaven. How utterly ridiculous!
Bible based, non-Christian cults are those groups that CLAIM to be Christian, use the Bible . . . BUT . . . they have REDEFINED God and Jesus and the Gospel sufficiently to make the GIFT of salvation of NO effect. 2 Cor. 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (KJV)
This ministry exposes error and teaches the Truth so that people will NOT go to an eternal and agonizing Hell. Universalism is absolutely WRONG, and is a very major error, and needs to be addressed.
Is Mormonism wrong? Is it dangerous to the soul? Does it lead to damnation? The universalist would say no, even though Mormonism teaches that god came from another planet, has a goddess wife, and that we can become gods . . . which is a damnable heresy. Universalists teach that Mormons go to Heaven. Of course universalists who claim to be Christian might assert that Mormon theology is wrong. But, they would also say that in the after life, they would be able to repent and follow the true God.
Mormonism is not Christian. It is false. It is a pack of lies right from the devil. It damns people for believing in a false god, a false gospel, and a system of works-righteousness that is supposed to help them become saved. But, to the universalist, such heresy amounts only to a goof, an error in judgment, with the ultimate result being heaven. It makes no difference if a person is a universalist, a Mormon, a Jehovah's Witness, Catholic or an orthodox Christian . . . because they ALL are going to Heaven according to UNIVERSALISM. It is wrong and it is dangerous.
"Christian Universalism" teaches that all of mankind will ultimately be saved through Jesus whether a person had faith or not. It teaches that God's qualities of love, sovereignty, justice, etc., require that all people be saved and that eternal punishment is a false doctrine. They teach that salvation is NOT from Hell, but from sin. That is NOT what the Bible says!
John 3:15-19 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (KJV) . . . Jesus' Words! There is a Heaven . . . BUT there is also a HELL!
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. (KJV) . . . Jesus' Words! There is a Heaven . . . BUT there is also a HELL!
1 John 5:10-12 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (KJV) . . . The apostle John's words! There is a Heaven . . . BUT there is also a HELL!
John 3:34-36 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (KJV) . . . John the Baptist's words! There is a Heaven . . . BUT there is also a HELL!
NO one can go to Heaven without JESUS!
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV)
Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV) . . . Emphasis mine.
There absolutely IS a HELL, a Lake of Fire! You shall go there without Jesus! There is NO salvation without accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour.
Some Universalists believe: ...
- in consciousness after death, others do not.
- in limited punishment of sinners in a type of hell that is not of fire, but of some moral chastising . . . maybe like the damnable Catholic purgatory! .
- that punishment in the afterlife was for a limited period during which the soul was purified and prepared for eternity in the presence of God . . . again purgatory.
Personally I do NOT think that a TRUE Christian can believe in Universalism. This damnable heresy should be avoided because it is NOT true!
- Universalism is NOT in the Bible!
- Universalism is NOT Scriptural.
- Universalism is a doctrine of devils, a damnable heresy! (1 Tim.4:1).
- The Universalist is a false teacher, a heretic, a wolf in sheep's clothing.
- The Bible does NOT teach that everyone will be saved, quite the contrary, only a FEW will be saved! Mat.7:13-14).
