The Church of Christ is right out of the pits of HELL. They teach that water baptism is absolutely essential to go to heaven. This is the same damnable heresy which Roman Catholicism and Lutheranism teaches.

Summary of Their Disturbing Beliefs

They believe salvation can be lost. The Christian Church believes we are saved by grace, BUT we work to remain faithful to the Lord in order to finally make it to Heaven, whereas a person can 'backslide' and be lost and end up in Hell after trusting Christ and being baptized. BUT . . . if one loses salvation and comes back to Christ, he/she does NOT have to be baptized again. Ridiculous!

Christian Churches and Churches of Christ do NOT believe one can have assurance and KNOW he is going to heaven. That is totally against what God's Word says! 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (KJV) . . . DO YOU SEE WHAT GOD SAYS? That ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life. Emphasis mine.

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (KJV) . . . When we BELIEVE, we HAVE eternal life . . . NOW! (John 5:24).

The Church of Christ, and the Charismatic Movement, and Speaking in Tongues. Christian Churches today do NOT restrict people with the 'Charismatic Gifts' and allow great freedom in their worship services for people to use their 'gifts' of tongues, holy laughter, shakes, barking, etc.

They openly promote such ecumenical ventures such as Promise Keepers, are members of the radical National Council of Churches and The World Council of Churches. In one World Council of Churches gathering, prayer was led to the 'Goddess Sophia'. . . ???

Many of these Mega-Christian Churches have adapted the 'Seeker-Friendly' approach to church growth and offer 'Christian Rock' with complete band and musicians, instead of piano and organ. They have 'Praise music' instead of the traditional hymns and hymnbooks. Informal worship is rapidly replacing the more formal worship service. Casual dress is the norm.

These "mega-churches" still hold fast to the basic doctrines of the Christian Church and Churches of Christ regarding water baptism as being necessary for remission of sins and they reject the Once Saved, Always Saved doctrine taught by the Bible.

Churches of Christ are unique in that they do NOT use musical instruments at all and only use acapella singing (a far extreme from the Christian Rock music found in the Independent Christian 'Mega-Churches'!)
Churches of Christ are also unique in that they do not take a literal view of the Book of Revelation, but rather take a figurative view of the last book of the Bible.

Many Christians are not aware that Max Lucado is the pastor of the Oak Hills Church of Christ. Sadly, most Christians are not even aware that the Church of Christ adds water baptism to the Gospel; thus, perverting it. Lucado falsely teaches that water baptism is an initial sign of being saved. There is NO such teaching in the Bible. That is similar as Chrismatics saying that speaking in tongues is proof of being saved! That is a blatant LIE! The Church of Christ is a false religion, a CULT, because it is wrong on the essential Biblical plan of salvation. Many Church of Christ preachers teach (like the Jehovah Witnesses) that the Church of Christ is the ONLY true church. Some even say that people who have not been baptized by a Church of Christ preacher will go to Hell. The believe that for a person to be saved . . . #1 they had to have faith, #2 repent of sins, and #3 be baptized. WHY do they have an extra requirement that God does NOT have in the His Holy Word? Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (KJV) . . . Jesus says: John 6:28-29 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? [29] Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. (KJV) Jesus' Words. . . . Jesus said: BELIEVE! That's all! To believe is to have FAITH (complete trust) in what God has promised . . . He can deliver!

Repent . . . to think differently; reconsider; turn around and go the other way. We must repent of our unbelief, and we must repent of our sins. Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. (KJV) Jesus' Words. . . . Jesus tells us we must repent and believe the Gospel.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV) . . . The change comes AFTER a person is saved . . . it is NOT a requirement to be saved. Christian growth is not required to go to Heaven. Does this shock you? What about the thief on the cross? What did Jesus tell this man who finally saw that Jesus was the Christ (GOD), the only Way to Heaven? Luke 23:39-43 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. [40] But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? [41] And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. [42] And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. [43] And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (KJV) Jesus' Words. . . . This sinner realized he was a lost sinner on the way to Hell. His heart was made bare, completely revealed, to our precious Saviour and Lord. One day, all TRUE believers will see this thief in Heaven!

If you truly trust Christ Jesus as your Saviour, you will go to Heaven, whether you grow in the Lord or not while on Earth. There are some really lousy, lazy Christians in this world, but that does not mean they are not saved. All TRUE believers will one day give account at the Judgment Seat of Christ (1 Cor.3:11-15). All TRUE and sincere believers will go to Heaven! Their destination is settled. . . . BUT . . . they shall be judged! What will be judged will be: do they receive rewards for what they did to serve God while they were on Earth? Or will they lose rewards that they could have had?

King David was an adulterer, murderer, and deceiver. He lost the joy of salvation, before he repented! He did NOT lose his salvation (Psalm 51).

Baptismal Regeneration is NOT Biblical! There is nothing, any where in the Bible that tells us we have to be baptized to be saved. Again, back to the thief on the cross. He was NOT baptized! John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (KJV) Jesus' Words. . . . A person who has trusted in Christ is saved! They are NOT condemned, whetherthey have been baptized or not. John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (KJV) Jesus' Words. . . . Jesus says NOTHING about baptism! John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (KJV) Jesus' Words. . . . Absolutely NOTHING about baptism! There are MANY New Testament Passages which mention faith in Christ, but none of them mention baptism. There are 63 times in the New Testament that the word "baptized" is mentioned, but NOT one of them say that we must be baptized to be saved. Faith alone in Christ is what saves a person, NOT baptism. The Church of Christ cult teaches damnable heresies by ADDING requirements which God did NOT add.
Faith + any work = NO faith at all

"Baptismal regeneration" is simply a heresy that one must be baptised in order to be saved. It is a Satanic doctrine, sending billions to Hell. The Catholic Church REQUIRES it's members to be baptized in order to go to Heaven. So does the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Lutherans, Eastern Orthodox, etc. Jesus NEVER told anyone they had to be baptized to be saved. No one in the Old Testament was ever baptized. We are told that Abraham was justified by faith, without any works. Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. (KJV) Romans 4:3-5 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. [4]Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. [5] But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (KJV)

The Church of Christ also denies the existence of a literal Heaven, the millennial reign of Christ, the Rapture, and many other fundamental Bible teachings. The Church of Christ is bad news CULT!!! They focus so much on baptism that the TRUE Gospel of salvation is hidden in the fog of their heresies. Many people go through the rituals and ceremonies of the many FALSE religions, BUT they never become born-again believers. They join a church, get baptized, sing in a choir, tithe, etc. . . . BUT, they do NOT know Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord! They go through the outward forms of religion, thinking that they are saved; BUT, they do NOT have a change of heart, because they believe these cults' deceptive heresies, instead of believing God's Holy Word anmd depending ONLY on Christ Jesus. My friend, it is far better to trust God than to put your eternal soul in the hands of man (Psalm 118:8).

Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? (KJV) . . . The apostle Paul had chastises the Galatians.
Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: (KJV) . . . The Biblical Gospel does NOT require baptism to be saved. Salvation is of God, paid for by the precious Blood of Jesus. What God expects of us is to "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..." (Acts 16:31) . . . and that's it!

God makes salvation easy, so that anyone . . . a child, a retarded person, can be saved! Like Billy Sunday so wittingly put it: "He (God) put the cookies on the bottom shelf." Meaning the cookies (salvation) are within reach of "whosoever" is interested!
